You’re Not Just a Job Seeker. You’re a Problem Solver!
When people find themselves in a situation where they are searching for
work, something which is fairly typical is that their own ways of
thinking put them on the back foot.
Of course, if the reason for an
individual’s job search is because they have been laid off, they are
almost certainly going to experience feelings of self-doubt and low
self-esteem, and often this can make their job searches feel as though
they are asking recruiters for favors.
Even many of those who are seeking a change of job of their own accord though, can think of their situations almost as being ones in which they are asking for something rather than offering something of value to recruiters.
However you reach the point where you are searching for work, the mindset that you are in will not only affect how well-motivated and how positive you are able to stay, but also how confidently you come across to recruiters.
If you think of yourself as being just another job
seeker, then the chances are that recruiters will see you in just the
same way.
If you think of yourself as someone who can help employers to solve problems, on the other hand, then you will be a much more attractive proposition.
No matter what line of business people are in or what type of work
experience they have, everyone has valuable skills and talents which can
be put into effect to help employers solve problems.
If you are clear about those skills and talents in your own mind, if you do your research well so that you are able to identify the problems and issues that your target employers are facing and if you can turn your thinking around so that you see yourself as a problem-solver with something to give rather than somebody who is asking for something, you will put yourself in a much better state of mind so that your chances of success are enormously improved.
